Abstract: Being raised by a father involved with law enforcement I have always been privy to hearing about increased traffic stops at different times of the year. When it comes to criminal activity, a major goal of law enforcement agencies is trying to recognize patterns. By recognizing patterns, these agencies can try to predict and get ahead of lawbreaking. Researchers have detected seasonal trends in crime that may be explained by “environmental conditions” suitable for committing a crime (Delgado, Sánchez-Delgado, 2023). Is a similar theme present when it comes to contraband found during traffic stops in Connecticut? After performing the necessary statistical analysis, the amount of contraband seized from month to month showed no significant difference. Although there are patterns, law enforcement can not be certain that these different patterns are significantly different.
