Abstract: In recent years, discourse around social phobias/anxiety has heightened drastically. With this increase in conversation around anxiety, there has been an expansion in conversation around it’s causes. Specifically, causes such as nicotine addiction and tobacco use has been a primary focus. The goals of the analysis are to establish an association between nicotine use and the prevalence of social phobias, and to determine if gender has an effect. After analysis, it seems as if nicotine use and social phobias have a significant association. Moreover, gender also displayed a significant effect in determining that females are less likely to display social phobias.
