Abstract: The objective of this analysis is to distinguish the relationship between a person’s demographic and their viewpoint on voting, as either a choice or an obligation. Determining this relationship is based on the results of regression using the ANES dataset, comparing the dependent variable of response to the question “Do you feel very strongly that voting is a choice” and the independent variables of race, age, and parents’ place of origin. Within this analysis, multiple races, ages, and backgrounds were compared, creating a landscape of outcomes that inferred if the study proved a stronger or weaker relationship between a person’s sentiment and where they stand on voting.
