Abstract: Recent studies examine the reasons behind why some students perform better in school compared to others. Studies have found that there is a positive association between older sibling academic support and increased academic achievement and motivation (Bouchey et al., 2010). This study looks at the relationship between academic performance and sibling relationships to see if there are any associations consistent with current research. It is found that positive sibling relationships are associated with individuals performing better academically while negative sibling relationships are associated with lower academic performances. Further research is needed to look at cofounders to see if there are other factors at play that impact academic performance.
