I am a sophomore from Minnetonka, Minnesota. Here at Wesleyan I am studying psychology and data analysis on a premed track, and have really been enjoying it so far. I am particularly interested in child development which is what prompted me to explore this topic in my project.

Abstract: This study investigated the roles and availability of both parents in a participant’s adolescence and examined how those relationships are associated with future attitudes regarding parenting. The examination of the relationship between parental availability in childhood and feelings pertaining to parenting in adulthood was insignificant. Other third variables were studied to see if there was another factor that might have moderated any subgroups of the relationship. The variable that was significant was that of income, most specifically in the case of lower income households experiencing less parental availability and also more unhappiness surrounding parenting roles.
